Set among mature trees in the village of Oponice, Chateau Appony occupies a historic Renaissance manor that was home to the Apponyi family for centuries. Carefully restored between 2007 and 2011, the chateau brings together preserved architectural character, elegant interiors and the atmosphere of a country estate within a landscaped English-style park.
At the heart of the property is the historic Apponyi Library, an exceptional collection of 17,324 volumes that includes works by figures such as Aristotle, Plato, Isaac Newton, Galileo Galilei, Machiavelli and Goethe. The library gives Chateau Appony a cultural identity that reaches well beyond that of a conventional country hotel.
